Catching Fire (Hunger Games #2) by Suzanne Collins

Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2)Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well I didn’t like the whole idea of the Quarter Quell and definitely not the part of the President’s advice. The idea of Peeta going all command hero is crazy but really do you think Haymitch could get the lot into shape for the third Quarter Quell. Plus you can’t tell who she even picks,

Team Peeta

or

Team Gale?

The story continues with months after Peeta and Katniss left the games behind. But they didn’t the Capitol still wants them to convey there love to each other publicly and to make matters worse Katniss still hasn’t decided who to choose. Gale’s life is put in danger again when Katniss discovers President Snow knows what he thinks is a little dirty secret. Visiting all the districts isn’t really one of the things high on Katniss voluntary to do list but she complies as the the stakes are even higher than normal. Soon after her compliance to the Capitol Katniss Everdeen sees she’s never really left the arena, as the rules for the Third Quarter Quell. The Games begin once more and not only the circumstances not fair everything is not as it seems.

A special scene that is very memorable but with no spoilers.(srry guys)
I can’t tell him. I pick at the clump of weeds. “Let’s start with something more basic. Isn’t it strange that I know you’d risk your life to save mine … but I don’t know what your favorite color is?” he says.

A smile creeps onto my lips. “Green. What’s yours?”

“Orange,” he says.

“Orange? Like Effie’s hair?” I say.

“A bit more muted,” he says.

“More like … sunset.” Sunset. I can see it immediately, the rim of the descending sun, the sky streaked with soft shades of orange.

A Beautiful Evil by Kelly Keaton (Gods and Monsters #2)

A Beautiful Evil (Gods & Monsters, #2)A Beautiful Evil by Kelly Keaton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have to say this second installment in the Gods and Monsters series was truly awesome and I think it hit a couple of my expectations on the nose and some were truly and totally knocked out of the water. I liked the ending a lot and cant wait to hear of the next installment to the series to find out where Athena stands.

The story takes place after the first book ends when the people Ari should have held close were stripped from her because of the Goddess Athena’s jealousy. In New 2 a lot of things are broken and when Ari refuses to stay in the Quarter but live in the old broken Mansion she calls home. Micheal, Sebastian’s, father and her new guardian doesn’t understand that she has a place among the kids that already live there. Ari doesn’t waste time and tries to find out anything she could on Athena to think about her whereabouts. When Ari finally finds out where Athena could be hiding she finds out she needs something she might not be able to get her hands on. After finding a way to get her hands on some of what she needed for the plan to work out she gets herself and Sebastian caught by Athena. In the end only one unruly force can stand above the ashes, victorious. And lets all hope it’s Ari.

My favorite non-spoiler scene is this….
( Imagine she, Ari, just kicked some drunk vampires ass for doing something she didn’t like )
“The only monster here is you and your sick friends,” I growled. “Torturing and killing doesn’t make you popular it makes you egomaniacal piece of shit just like Athena…..”

P.s. I just love the cover of the book as well. Her silvery white hair turning into a snake, Awesome.

The Calling (Darkness Rising #2) by Krlley Armstromg

The Calling (Darkness Rising, #2)The Calling by Kelley Armstrong

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really liked the second installment of the Darkness Rising series. If you read the first book The Gathering you’ll love this book. For you who have read the book can you Imagine what the next book is going to be like (*evil laugh*) Amazing!!!!

Summary without spoilers:
I expected more action in this one but common they didn’t know where they were. In this book the helicopter the kids were in, crashed in the middle of nowhere. The only thing they could do is try to find out where to go next. The evil group who set fire to their home is believed to be somewhere out there following them. Maya and Daniel have to be the leaders and get the rest of them alive and out of the woods, but nothing is as it seems. Are the guys following them the bad guys?, What is Salmon Creek?, and Is making it home enough? These questions are all answered in this book and more.

Questions I had
Who killed Serena?
Do they all live?
What secrets are shared?
Do they make it home?

Mind racing, heart pumping, lung burning anticipation to what happens in the third installment of Darkness Rising.
